WHAT IS A NGO

The term NGO stands for Non-Governmental Organization. It is a non-profit organization that works independently. An NGO might not always be in direct association with the government body to offer its service. NGOs are also called civil societies for the service they offer.

In most cases, an NGO might work locally and help a particular community or theme. But certain NGOs are in a position to offer their service at both national and international levels. They help with philanthropy motto and are focused on societal welfare over financial profit. 

Despite being a non-profit organization, the budget of an NGO might run in millions. These are the money that is provided by the sponsors of the NGO. This sponsored amount is then used by the team to provide their service to the community.

NGOs might offer their service in varied platforms or themes. There is no particular restriction on what are the areas that an NGO must function. Some of the most common areas of focus by NGOs are as follows:

• Child education: Children are often regarded as the future of society. And for the future to be bright, there is a need for children to be equipped with sufficient knowledge and skillset. Educated children will ensure that harmony and equality prevail in society, making it more tolerable for the human race. NGOs offer support for children’s education. 

• Poverty eradication: Poverty is often the greatest curse in human civilization. The uneven distribution of wealth, health, and power can be stated as one of the major reasons. NGOs conduct a lot of camps and other programs to ensure that humans from the underprivileged community get an equal platform in society.

• Human rights: Every human is born with some basic rights. It is often called the law of nature or nature’s law. Although with time and power, the mightier will overthrow and exploit the puny, the equilibrium must be kept. Thus, NGOs often stand for basic human rights for all.
